Who I am
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a deep appreciation for the opportunity to
support youth, families, and young adults through evidence-based, culturally responsive care. My approach is strengths-based, focused on empowering individuals with practical tools for growth, resilience, and long-term success. I specialize in working with youth (ages 5–18) and young adults (ages 19–30), tailoring treatment to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.
I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. I completed both my pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Florida Health Science Center, where I received advanced training in evidence-based assessment and intervention with children, adolescents, and families.
Before transitioning to private practice, I served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida. In this role, I taught doctoral-level graduate courses, provided direct clinical services to youth and their families, and supervised doctoral trainees in psychological assessment and therapy.
A Bit About Me
My clinical work focuses on supporting youth and adults in developing deeper insight into their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, while equipping them with practical strategies and skills to pursue individualized goals and meet their unique needs. When working with children and adolescents, I prioritize active collaboration with parents and caregivers. This partnership is essential in strengthening family dynamics, nurturing secure and supportive relationships, and promoting the generalization and long-term maintenance of therapeutic progress.
My theoretical orientation is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a
framework that aligns with my belief in the power of self-awareness, practical skill-
building, and evidence-based strategies to foster meaningful and sustainable change. CBT resonates deeply with my core values as a clinician: that individuals are not defined by their struggles and that, through guided reflection, skill development, and intentional practice, they can cultivate resilience and gain greater control over their lives.
I value that CBT is both client-centered and goal-oriented, enabling measurable
progress while honoring the individual’s lived experience and personal context.
My clinical work spans a broad spectrum of psychological and behavioral challenges in children, adolescents, and adults. These include mood and anxiety disorders (e.g., depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, specific phobias, OCD, PTSD); health-risk behaviors (e.g., suicidality, self-harm, substance use, truancy); grief and prolonged grief disorder; oppositional and disruptive behavior disorders (e.g., ODD, ADHD);autism spectrum disorder; sleep and school-related difficulties; interpersonal challenges; and family conflict.
Informed by a cognitive-behavioral theoretical orientation, I utilize a range of evidence-based treatments tailored to individual needs.
Some of these include:
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) – for children and
adolescents experiencing trauma-related symptoms.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) – primarily used for PTSD and trauma-
related cognitive distortions.
Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Approach (AF-CBT) – for
families dealing with conflict, coercion, and child behavior concerns.
Zones of Regulation – a cognitive-behavioral framework supporting emotional
and self-regulation, particularly with neurodiverse youth.
Functional Family Therapy (FFT) – a short-term, family-based intervention for
youth with behavioral or emotional problems.
Unified Protocols for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders in
Children and Adolescents – addressing emotional dysregulation across various
diagnoses.
Parent Management Training (PMT) – equipping caregivers with effective
strategies for managing challenging behaviors.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – adapted for youth and adults to enhance
emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
I remain committed to applying CBT in a developmentally appropriate, culturally
responsive, and trauma-informed manner. I view therapy as a collaborative and
empowering process, and I am dedicated to creating a supportive space where
individuals and families can build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward meaningful personal goals.
